Reoccuring theme

The socks I just mailed down to Vancouver Island and current sock seem to follow the reoccurring blue theme, just can't help it. Between the many blues I have on hand and followed closely by greens, can easily see where my comfort zone lies. Then got looking at the DK-Sport weight yarns in my handspun stash, guess what the 'GREENS' win there as well. So took a pix of the greens and then one of the blues. And just plied two more bobbins of a really dark green. I'm lost. Maybe the stuff I'll be spinning for the Tour de Fleece will fall out of the 'comfort zone', no wait its a blue theme as well. Guess after its done will go to a bright red or maybe even black just for something different.


The green handspun. Greens just seems to jump into my shopping bag while at places that sell roving, some I even dyed myself, using CIBA acid dyes.


Then the blues.


Left two windows open in the wool room overnight, temp this morning was in upper 30's F meaning it was cold in wool room, so much so that I had on long sleeved flannel shirt with wool sweater over top, fingerless gloves and of course wool socks.

    I find purple pink and blue yarns always magically hop in my cart too!! Now how does that happen?!? The socks you knit are beautiful as usual!

    I'm laughing because blue and green make up the majority of my stash too, with a bit of purple thrown in for good measure. It's hard to believe you needed a wool sweater and fingerless mitts!

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
