Frost

Got home just after 1 pm on Wednesday 4th, brought in several bags of produce first thing, then knitting, puter and camera. All the rest waited until I gathered up Lucas to unload the heavy stuff. Shortly after taking him home I crashed, slept from 4 to almost 7 pm. Then had a big salad for supper, best part of the long drive from town.

Almost -3° yesterday and today looks like more of the same, nice to get rid of mozzies temporarily but tough on the gardeners. Hoping Saskatoon's made it before the mornings with frost. Have great difficulty turning heat on in June so instead back to the wool sweater.

Finished the conservative blue & green Monstersock #1, now that I am home with stash at hand can get ready the second ball of the main color in the Orangerino's, knit enuff on them that I was down to a walnut sized ball of the Hazel Knits main color. Also on the go is the Koigu gloves in more green, blues and purples, at the point of joining the little finger. Want to have these all done before Tour de Fleece gets underway (lots of spinning time). Next is World Cup starting on June 12th, should have lots of knitting time then.

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
