Yesterday morning Tatlayoko was the coldest spot in BC (some might have been colder but they don't have weather stations). -4.2 at the weather station here and -5 at my place up the road from weather station about 4 miles. Had xplornet technician in yesterday to install new dish and relocate Star Choice dish, xplornet dish will be redundant in early fall when new bird gets put into orbit, but then they told us that last year when a new bird was deployed only to find out service only came to Alexis Creek, about 90 miles east of here. Not the easiest people to deal with that's for sure.

This morning up early to get stuff into car for town trip, can't leave until a bit after 7 so I can be at Redstone when gas bar opens, then have DR appointment at 11, various other errands and up to Denise's place to crash. Williams Lake Spinning Day is tomorrow, have wheel already in the car, so just small stuff left to go in. Taking the variegated green Merino in with me to spin, have about half the first bobbin full , its fine enuff that there is no danger of finishing it tomorrow, but just in case brought the woolee winder and 2 empty bobbin with, just in case.

Have a bunch of neighbors Galloway yearlings in my yard so called and left a message on their machine, hope they are able to find where the cows came thru the fence.

    I love the new socks you've started! I have been taking a knitting break. Trying to practice my spinning and letting my thumb rest. I did start a tiny baby blanket with some of that super soft baby yarn that is impossible to deal with.....lucky for me it is tiny.

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
